Sharks are a kind of fish, not mammals. Sharks breathe through gills that require them to either move or remain still while a current moves oxygenated water through them. Sharks come in more varieties than dolphins and whales, from the lumbering, harmless, and strangely named whale shark, to the exceptionally dangerous and aggressive tiger shark.

They think they are dolphins, but since they are often too nice for their own good, they get eaten by the shark. The Shark. The shark is a ferocious predator, no surprise here! Sharks have no remorse when it comes to winning at any expense, and they make no distinction. For the shark, everything and everyone is a potential threat or competition.

Intelligence is the prominent quality of the dolphin. In nature, dolphins can defend themselves against predators. In some cases, dolphins have banded together to chase sharks out of an area. In a sort of natural bully control, they have even been known to head-butt would-be predators. In human terms, dolphins are assertive, rather than aggressive.

Lastly, as mentioned previously, sharks and dolphins swim differently. Watching the way the animal swims can help you identify which one it is. If the tail of the animal seems to be moving up and down, it is likely a dolphin. However, if it is moving back and forth, it is probably a shark.

Specifically, sharks are fish, meaning they have gills, breathe underwater and are cold-blooded. On the other hand, dolphins are mammals, much like humans, meaning they breathe air, are warm-blooded, and nurse their offspring. You may know that another defining characteristic of mammals is their ability to give birth to live young.
